About Yiola Klitou

About Yiola

Yiola Klitou was born in Nicosia, Cyprus. She studied acting at the Vladimiros Kafkarides Drama
School in Nicosia and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Translation from the Ionian University in
Corfu, Greece and a Master’s Degree in Conference Interpreting from the University of Cyprus.
She has been freelancing as an actress, translator and interpreter for more than twenty years.
A fluent speaker of three languages (Greek, English and French) and one dialect (Greek-Cypriot)
she had the opportunity throughout her acting career to act in all these languages either in
theatre, television or film.

Yiola completed filming a part in a new feature film Diversion by Marinos Kartikkis in March 2024 and is anticipating its release in the summer of 2025.

This year she also had guest part in a new TV series Famagusta .

In the summer of 2024 she saw the release of Find me Falling on Netflix, a rom-com directed by Stelana Kliris and starring Harry Konnick Jr  where she plays the part of Ismini and where she also worked as a dialect coach for the Greek-Cypriot dialect for Ali Fumiko. The film was No 1 on Netflix for two consecutive weeks
In 2021 she appeared in the feature film Senior Citizen by director Marinos Kartikis where she plays the part of a social worker, Litsa.
Under the direction of Marinos Kartikkis, she received two nominations for Best Actress at the
LA Greek Film Festival and the London Greek Film Festival for the part of Sophia in his 2014
feature film Family Member.
In film, she has also worked with directors Adonis Florides (in his feature film Rosemarie), Andreas Kyriakou, Harry Ayiotis and Constantinos Patsalides.
Her latest appearance on stage was in March- May 2024 where she played the part of Genevieve in Splendour by Abi Morgan and directed by Yiannis Karaoulis.  Before that she had appeared in the Hitchcock Effect in 2023 as the Lonely woman under the direction of Andreas Kyriakou and in 2022 she participated in the critically acclaimed documentary-theatre performance Women Walk Home under the direction of Magdalena Zera. 

Other stage credits include The Milk-train doesn't stop here anymore by Tennessee Williams in the role of Mrs Goforth under the direction of Anthoullis Demosthenous who also directed her  in the world premiere of The Malediction a stage adaptation of the short story with the same title by Tennessee Williams.

In theatre, she also had the opportunity to work with directors such as Varnavas Kyriazis, Andreas
Christodoulidis, Christos Zanos, Yiorgos Mouaimis and others.
She also has several credits in TV series and ten of her translations of plays have been staged in
theatres in Cyprus.
